Dome mirrors are used in schools,
hospitals,
offices and stores. Generally they are used to
provide a
wide
angle view of intersecting hallways and isles. The
view angle is extremely wide but the details are
skewed so a dome mirror is meant to provide
awareness of a person or machine in an area which is
out of your "straight line of sight" (view).
| Stores use dome mirrors for
surveillance
to see areas normally hidden from view while
standing at the checkout area.
|
| In a large "Cubicle office"
area, the ceiling dome may be used to
quickly find a co-worker. The visible detail
is poor so employees should not feel watched
however, in an environment where a dome mirror
is used, knowing you can be seen could also
deter a visitor from doing something that should
not be done. Again I will mention that
domes are primarily used to see the presents of
someone or something. If you need to see detail
(what the person is doing or holding) you should
consider using a convex mirror or a surveillance
camera.

We call them "Drop-in domes"
because they are made to replace a standard
2 x2 foot drop ceiling tile. Drop-in
domes are very easy to install.
| Drop-in domes can be a
mirror, a see-through mirror for a
camera, a fake smoked camera housing or
an actual camera housing. It is almost
impossible to tell which housing holds
the camera if installed correctly. |
| We provide a
one-piece
dome and a
two-piece
dome. For the two-piece units, there
are several dome sizes that will fit
into the 2 x 2 replacement panel.

All Pendant domes look the same from the
outside so we only have one
picture. The light loss is around 40% so your room
needs to have good lighting. If you do not have good
lighting, then you should consider a different type of
housing where the camera is not hidden from view. The
only problem with a visible camera it that a person can
see which way it is pointing. With hidden cameras, you
do not even know if there is a camera. The next time you
go into a store like
Walgreens
(they use the same units), try to find which housings
holds the camera. Note: The pipe shown in the
picture is not included. I should also note that this is
not something that the average person should attempt to
install.
